You wouldn't go to a rock concert if you only preferred classical music. You wouldn't purchase a Picasso painting if you only preferred nature photography prints. The same is true when choosing a portrait photographer to capture you, your family, friends or loved ones! There is a not a "one size fits all" when it comes to photographers. Each photographer is an artist with their own creative flair invoked in their images.
Each photographer has their own unique style. That's the amazing and wonderful thing about art!. Thank goodness we are all unique in our preferences AND that we have the options to choose what fits our style.
Top 3 tips when considering a photographer that fits your needs.
1. Do your due diligence. Each photographer should have a portfolio that showcases their style. Some prefer light and airy and others prefer dark and moody.
2. Decide if you prefer more of a casual, lifestyle type of session, or a posed style. Not all photographers are alike. Some may only do lifestyle and some may only pose.
3. Decide if you prefer indoor or outdoor type of sessions. Some photographers are only natural light photographers. Some are only studio light photographers. Others may be able to incorporate both.
Just like any artistic product, there's not a right or wrong. It's personal preference. Just be sure that your photographer is a right match for your needs and preferences.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, don't forget to document and capture memories!! If you choose to hire a professional for some of those moments, don't ever forget to continue to capture moments as often as possible with your own camera/cell phone. It's something you will never regret!!
